Senior Social Work Assistant

Job Purpose

The role is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people. You will support social workers in delivering high-quality services to protect at-risk individuals. By conducting assessments, interventions, and collaborating with partner agencies, you will help improve the lives of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Case Management
    Act as an ‘allocated worker,’ managing assigned cases. You will gather and analyze essential information to take appropriate actions in promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  2. Assessments & Interventions
    Collect and critically assess all relevant data, ensuring that the safety and well-being of the child or young person are prioritized. You will conduct assessments following statutory guidelines and offer practical support to children and their families.

  3. Partnership Collaboration
    Work with external professionals and agencies to ensure a coordinated approach in achieving optimal outcomes for children. This involves ensuring services are integrated and effective.

  4. Case Recording & Reporting
    Accurately record and report case information in line with statutory and organizational requirements. Communicate effectively with various audiences through written and verbal channels.

  5. Professional Development & Accountability
    Take responsibility for continuous professional development, staying updated on legislative changes, policies, and best practices. Collaborate with the team to achieve positive outcomes for children.

  6. Supportive Role
    Assist the Team Manager by undertaking additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth delivery of services.

 

Qualifications

  1. Approved Social Work Qualification
    Must possess a recognized qualification in social work, ensuring a foundation in professional practices and ethical standards.

  2. Registration with Social Work England (SWE)
    Required to be registered with Social Work England, demonstrating compliance with regulatory standards for practice.

Experience

  1. Experience with Vulnerable Children and Families
    Demonstrated experience in working directly with vulnerable children and their families, showcasing a commitment to safeguarding and promoting well-being.

  2. Collaboration with Agencies
    Proven experience in working closely with both statutory and voluntary agencies, facilitating coordinated care and support for children and families.
